Up Above Initiatives
Up Above Initiatives is an organisation which is primarily concerned with the community and the upward development of people’s lives. Our ethos revolves around reaching and helping vulnerable and excluded groups within the community whilst offering specialist knowledge, experience and service in a variety of design and artistic sectors.

Youth
The organisation is committed to working with young people from a range of backgrounds and circumstances. The Up Above youth Initiative aims to offer young people a route out of social exclusion by engaging them in a variety of innovative sessions, workshops, projects and life skill activities.
Our programmes encourage a greater desire of aspiration and achievement among young people who are traditionally seen as “difficult to engage”.
Our vision centres on guiding the youth within the wider community to allow their own drive and creativity to be a foundation for the future.
We work in youth centres, schools, colleges and on site, delivering and facilitating specialised sessions/workshops and providing advice and practical life skill support. We have put a major focus- through our youth initiative- on tackling the risk factors that may lead to social exclusion such as low self esteem, lack of educational attainment, family dysfunction, substance misuse and anti-social attitudes. Our youth programme is targeted at young people between the ages of 14-21. We also work in partnership with other organisations advising and supporting the development of initiatives aimed at young people aged between 8-12.
Overseas
The Up Above overseas initiative is a very genuine response to the poverty and degradation being suffered in one of the poorest parts of the globe.
Sierra Leone has substantial mineral, fishery, and agricultural resources; however, it has the lowest average income in the world. There are approximately 20,000 orphans, many of whom are left to roam and sleep in the streets.
Part of our operation involves supporting the orphans and their carers by shipping much needed supplies to the poorest regions of Sierra Leone. We are also working very closely with Mercy Mission International to provide much needed shelter, healthcare and educational facilities. (Click here for more info).
Community Support
The community can often be a lonely and miserable place for some of its inhabitants. Instances of crime, poverty, seclusion, incapacitation, (and so on) can all contribute to extreme hardships, especially for those who are less able to support themselves.
We formulate and facilitate a number of care initiatives that are aimed at providing support to the most vulnerable of the wider community (Lambeth Southwark).
Enterprise
We provide an array of design and artistic services. Our in house team are highly qualified and supremely capable in the fields of web design, logo configuration, printing etc. We also have many excellent artists who can draw and design to specification – (natural landscapes, wildlife, portraits etc).
The art and design aspect has been set up for the development and maintenance of financial sustainability which in turn will make the organisations social goals more readily achievable.
